The history of a bike rental

There are many different companies offering bicycle rental services in Batumi. Throughout the city, you can find special parking lots, apparatuses and areas with cells where people park two-wheeled friends. Let's try to explain in as much detail as possible how bike rental works on the example of our experience in the company “Batumi-Velo”.

How to arrange a rental?

To begin with, we went to the tourist information center on the new boulevard, namely along Ninoshvili Street. There, cards are purchased, according to the type of bank cards, with the help of which bicycle rental services are paid.

Nuances:

• you can take up to 4 bicycles for one passport;
• the card price is 20 lari;
• the account initially has 10 lari;
• the rental price is 2 lari per hour;
• you can ride around the clock.

What documents are required:

To purchase a card, you will have to sign a contract (standard in English). At the same time, you must have a passport with you – a copy of it is attached to the contract in the form of an appendix on the second page.

The process of accepting and handing over bicycles

After signing the contract, you will be given instructions on how to use the devices and cells of the bike rental and a password. At the same time, if you are using the services for the first time, it is better to get detailed explanations from employees – what features exist, what problems often arise and how to solve them. Usually the staff tries to explain everything clearly so that there are no misunderstandings in the future.

1. Approach the device, choose what you will ride. Sometimes there are not enough bicycles at the station, or they are not all available for rental – in this case you will have to go to the next station, or ask the staff about the reasons why it is not possible to take a bike.
2. The menu in English is easy to translate into Russian – there is a special button for this. You attach a card, enter a password, get a key with a number that corresponds to the number of the bike.
3. You ride for your own pleasure, roughly calculating the time and price you will have to pay. Applications where you can track the time or cost have not been created, so there is a chance not to keep track and go “into the negative”.
4. Upon returning, find a cell that is lit in red (this is important!), secure the bike, lock it with a key, return the key to the machine. At the same time, an inscription about the delivery lights up on the scoreboard and the amount spent is displayed.
5. If you still have a payment debt, ask the support service how to reimburse the amount. Remember, your passport details are written in the contract, so you will not be able to evade payment, there may be problems with leaving the country.

Sometimes the stations work with failures, so you have to move to the second, third, until there is a working cell.
