5 июня 1901 года Эмерик застрелил Дагни Пшибышевскую в номере «Гранд Отеля» на глазах у сына, а затем застрелился сам, оставив предсмертные записки. В адресованной Станиславу записке было написано – «Стах, я это делаю ради тебя».
Что послужило причиной такого поступка, неизвестно.
Дагни похоронили в Тифлисе, на Кукийском кладбище, 8 июня - в день, когда ей бы исполнилось 34 года.
