The Church of St. George is located in Sasireti, Kaspi municipality. It was in these places that the famous Battle of Sasiret took place, in which the Vikings took part on the side of the royal army.
Vikings also once visited Georgia. However, the Church of St. George in Sasireti was built much later, in the 19th century. During the excursion to the Church of St. George in Sasireti, you can enjoy the singing of the church choir and see the unique frescoes. The cathedral is rightfully a landmark of Georgia.
When visiting the village of Sasireti, you have the opportunity to visit the local church of St. George, which was built in the XIX century.
Materials that were used for the construction: stone and cobblestone. The building at the top has a semicircular apse, in the center of which there is an arched window. There are rectangular niches on the south and north sides of the apse.
The builders of the conch and the church vault were built of wood material. The floor of the apse, in comparison with the hall, has a single-stage elevation, which is separated by an iconostasis made of wood.
Going up to the second floor, you can find a hymn performed by the church-Christian choir, which performs near the wooden stairs and railings with balusters.
The building has two entrances located on the south and west sides. On both sides of the southern entrance there is one window in the form of arches. There are unique fragments of painting in the interior of the temple.
The facades of the building are covered with stone arches, which have unusual patterns created by painters of that time.
Decades ago, there was a brick column built near the wall from the south entrance. Subsequently, a bell tower was built, built of bricks and stone.
