Machi Fortress–This is a cultural monument in Georgia, which represents the unification of the fortress and the church into one. The most beautiful fortresses are located in Georgia. Machis-tsikhe is located on the territory of the Lagodekh Park.
If we return to the history of this cultural monument, it is worth remembering that for a long time this fortress was the residence of the kings of Kakheti. Time does not spare even such monuments of art, by the 21st century only small parts of the cultural heritage remained: some of the walls, a pit, a covered reservoir and a few more ruins. On the remains of the castle hall, in the very center, a small church hall was miraculously preserved.
The fortress was built by Alexander II in the period 1574-1605 . But over time, the fortress began to lose its original appearance and this monument needed urgent reconstruction. It is worth noting that this monument of cultural art of Georgia has a very impressive size. Machi has two gorges, they are opposite each other.
The structures responsible for the cultural heritage of Georgia restored the fortress in 2016. They restored the cultural monument by grounding the inside of the fortress (it was necessary), freed the cornices and restored them, and also repaired the walls. Thanks to the timely reconstruction of the cultural heritage monument, thousands of tourists and locals can plunge into history.
Now this fortress is located in one of the local parks and it will not be difficult for anyone to get to it. The sights of Georgia amaze with their volume and grandeur of scope and natural location. Having visited this place, you will not remain indifferent, because the sights of Georgia do not have this.
