Medicinal waters in Georgia. Visit the Sairme resort.
The Georgian resort of Sairme is surrounded by massive forests, thanks to which the air here is very clean. There are many sources of medicinal waters in Sairma, which you definitely need to try, because they are no worse than other famous waters. If you want to improve your health or just enjoy a vacation in the country, then come here.
To the south-east of the short Sairme on the middle section of the Baghdadi-Sairme-Abastumani-Akhaltsikhe highway, at an altitude of 2205 meters above sea level, there are several stone tables, which the locals called "Kvasakdara". From these places there is a beautiful panorama of the Meskhetian ridge and the valley of the Tsablaristskali river.
The balneological resort of Sairme is surrounded by coniferous and deciduous forests that stretch for many hectares around the city, pine trees, firs, beech trees, linden trees and chestnuts grow here. The age of many trees has exceeded the age limit.
Sairme is famous for the springs of medicinal waters. According to legend, these springs were discovered by hunters who were chasing an early deer. In the place where deer often gathered, water flowed through the rust-red stones. Everything around was whitened with salt. Approximately 5 km away. from this place, the shepherds discovered another strange place: here the grass was constantly green, the snow instantly melted, and after the rain, the ground immediately dried up. As it turned out later, the cause of all this was thermal nitrogen-methane, slightly sulfide mineral waters.
The first information about the Sairm is found in the documents of the 90s of the XIX century. And the first attempts of scientific study of the sources of the Sairme are associated with the name of the doctor Gabriel Kelenjeradze. In 1912, as a student, he took water samples to St. Petersburg for research.
It turned out that these waters in their medicinal properties are not inferior to other well-known medicinal waters at that time. In the 30s of the twentieth century, Sairme officially received the status of a resort.
3 kilometers from the resort of Sairme, on the left side of the valley of the Tsablaristskali River, a 30-meter column rises right on the side of the highway, which consists of a massive rocky pedestal and six boulders lying on top of each other in layers. This amazing natural monument was named the Sairm Pillar. The dimensions of the pedestal are 12x10m., height - 20m. the thickness of the boulders is 1-3 meters. This bizarre natural form is developed in volcanogenic rocks that have undergone erosion processes, which for many years have been provided by the Tsablaristskali River.
