Interesting sights of nature in Georgia. Natural monuments. Dashbashi Canyon and Khrami River.
The Dashbashi Canyon is interesting because it was formed in rocks of volcanic origin. There are many waters, including underground ones, and waterfalls on the slopes of the canyon, and the view from here is amazing. No wonder Dashbashi is considered one of the most beautiful. The Khrami River is the main river of the canyon, which has a variety of geographical features.
Canyon Dashbashi it is located in south Georgia, in the valley of the river Hrami, between the historical and geographical provinces of Trialeti and Kvemo Kartli, at an altitude of 1100-1500 meters above sea level.
The canyon was formed in volcanic (basalt lava) rocks, which make up the surrounding Tsalka plateau and the Khrami River massif. Its slopes, several hundred meters high, have different degrees of slope in different parts of the canyons. The canyon has a meridian direction. Its length reaches 8 km. The climate here is moderately humid. The rather high amplitude of the annual temperature indicates the presence of a continental climate in these places. In January, the average temperature is -4°-6 °, and in July - +16 °-+18°. The duration of sunlight is more than 2100 hours. The amount of precipitation is 700-800 mm, a smaller part of which (20%) falls in winter in the form of snow. Despite the small amount of snow, its dense cover lasts for three months.
Dashbasha Canyon is distinguished by its natural diversity and spectacular landscapes. There are numerous underground waters and waterfalls on its slopes. There are both natural and man-made caves here.
Several types of landscapes are represented within the canyon itself and in its surroundings: volcanic cones and plateaus, broad-leaved (beech, hornbeam-oak, oak) forests, high-altitude steppes, xerophytic plants of rocks and derivatives, secondary meadows and shrubs. The canyon Valley, which is a place of refuge and breeding for many animals, is an ecological corridor that connects animals of different species of Western and Eastern Georgia.
The main waterway of the Dashbashi Canyon is the Khrami River. The river valley is distinguished by many geographical features. At the source it is called Kzia, and the Tsalkipobok flowing from the reservoir changes its name and is called Khrami. Over millions of years, this river has created many canyons, some of which are impassable.
The Kzia before it flows into the reservoir is a typical mountain river, but when it flows out of the last canyon, its flow in the Kvemo Kartli plain becomes measured and smooth. The Khrami canyons, on the slopes of which the history of the geological development of the region is well traced, are the best place for educational and research tourism.
