The Tbilisi National Park is located to the north of Tbilisi, on the Saguramo-Ialno ridge and adjoins the historical provinces of Georgia - Shida and Kvemo Kartli, Ertso-Tianeti and Kakheti. The area of the park is 243 km2. The park was founded on the basis of the Saguram Reserve, which began functioning in the middle of the twentieth century.
Tbilisi National Park belongs to the regions with a moderately humid subtropical climate. There are 4 types of climate formed here, due to the forms of relief and exposures. On this territory there are low and medium mountain landscapes, hornbeam-oak forests, oak forests, beech forests. Thus, the Tbilisi National Park appears as a kind of geographical node, which is an important factor for the formation of a unified network of Caucasian protected areas.

The fauna of the Tbilisi National Park has been under state protection for decades, several species of large mammals are found here, but special attention is paid to the conservation of the Caucasian red deer (Cervus elaphus).
The protected area is located near the ancient capital of Georgia, the city of Mtskheta, which is of world importance. At the western edge of the park stands Mtskheta Jvari - the greatest monument of Georgian architecture and Christian culture of the sixth century. There are also many unique archaeological and cultural sites, some of which are protected by UNESCO.
