Sights of Georgia in Svaneti - Silver Lake Chkhurotsku, covered with myths and legends.
In order for the excursion to Chkhurotska to be rich, you will need a local guide who is well acquainted with local attractions - the region is not very popular with tourists, but it is unique in its own way. The local museum is represented by 23 thousand different exhibits, among which you can find weapons and jewelry...
Despite all its beauty, the Chhorotsku region is not very popular among tourists. This is not surprising, because only a local resident or an experienced guide can tell about all the sights that are located nearby. Nevertheless, they are unique natural and architectural and archaeological sites of Georgia.
The village itself is located in Svaneti, on the Khobistskali River, which originates in the same Silver Lake. Locals attribute a number of magical properties that Silver Lake supposedly possesses. Well, an inquisitive tourist, on the way to it, will note the unique, pristine nature of the Svaneti region. Mysterious caves, small waterfalls with cool and clear water, bright and colorful landscapes - all this will not leave anyone indifferent.
During the hike, you can stop to rest in the shacks of local shepherds, who, according to local guides, are quite friendly towards tourists who have come to see the sights of Georgia.
It is worth noting that not all local legends motivate a close acquaintance with the beauties of nature. According to one of them, anyone who touches the waters of Lake Tobavarchhili will be in trouble. For those who believe in mythical legends that have come down to our days, there are quite harmless rivers, which are not so few in this region: Tsalenjiha, Abasha, Tehura, Fichori. However, it is hardly worth refusing to get acquainted with the magic lake. Recreation for tourists is organized near it.
The region is no less interesting from a historical point of view. During archaeological excavations, finds dating back to the Bronze Age were discovered here. According to ancient legends, the kingdom of Kolkheti was located on this territory, ruled by Aiyet, the son of one of the Greek gods, Helios, the sun god.
The whole local area is so rich in various archaeological finds that they were quite enough to organize a local museum. There are about 23 thousand different exhibits in its exposition, among which you can see various weapons, ceramics, jewelry and jewelry. Scientists attribute the time of their manufacture to the Stone and Bronze Ages.
It was here that the famous Golden Vessel of the XVI century was found, which is on display at the State Museum of the History of Georgia. A hydroelectric power station has been preserved in Chhorotsk since Soviet times. At the moment, its capacity is less than 80% of the declared one, and the shares of the company that owns this station are for sale.
Before the collapse of the USSR, there was a wine factory and a tea-making factory in Chhorotsk.
For those who decided to visit these places, it is worth noting that the local roads are relatively high quality. However, it is better to come by car or accompanied by a guide. Hitchhiking to Chhorotsk will not be fast - there is not much transport here.
From the point of view of wine connoisseurs, this region has more than modest opportunities - of all the varieties of Georgian grapes that exist, only tsolikauri and Isabella are represented here.
Tourists who have visited here note certain difficulties that may arise with finding a hotel - there are simply no such things here. The connection will not please either. We can say that there is no Internet in Chhorotsk, in principle. As for the local cuisine and catering outlets that are in Chorotsk, they can be found only in the center, along with local shops - one of the differences of small Georgian towns. However, the cost of meals in establishments is unlikely to please with democracy, prices are close to the capital.
Mountain trekking enthusiasts are particularly interested in Chhorotsk - wild nature and deserted mountains can only be passed on foot.
