Not far from Sighnaghi, in the Kajiri Valley, there are Kilakupra mud volcanoes. The mud they spew has medicinal properties. Kilakupra Mud Volcano
Kilakupra oil-mud volcanoes are located in Kakheti, Sighnaghi (Kajiri Valley), Eastern Georgia. The height relative to sea level is 0.41 km . A mud volcano is an inorganic formation from which mud, natural gas, methane and oil are constantly erupting. The surrounding area mainly consists of rocks such as sandstone and clay.
According to scientists, the first processes of volcanic eruptions in this area began 35 million years ago. It is believed that the mud ejected from them has medicinal properties.
Takhti-Tefa Mud volcanoes
The Takhti-Tefa mud volcanoes are another attraction of Georgia, which is located in Kakheti. It is part of the protected areas of the aforementioned Vashlovani National Park. This place is located in the southern part of the Dali reservoir, the height relative to sea level is 620 m. The largest crater here has a diameter of 3.5 to 4 m. Mud, natural gas, methane and oil are constantly spewing out of the crater. As in the case of the Kilakupra mud volcanoes, the surrounding area is mostly composed of sandstones and clay.
Dali Reservoir
The reservoir of Mount Dali or Lake Dali is located in the East of Georgia, on the edge of the historical region of Kakheti, Dedoplis-Tskaro.
It is located in the lower part of the Iori River, at a distance of approximately 30 km from the town of Dedoplis-Tskaro. The volume of all water contained in the reservoir is approximately 140 million cubic meters, and the useful volume is 133 million cubic meters. The shore of the reservoir has noticeable irregularities. A canal was built from the Chachuni River, which came into use in 1992. Fish are bred in these waters. Here are some types of these fish: white cupid, barbel-chanari, carp, hramulya, shemaya, loco and others.
Mammals living on the territory: nutria, raccoons, raccoon dog, wolves, rabbits, foxes, wild boars and so on.
Birds: keklik, pheasants, gray ducks, wild ducks, quail, coot and so on.
