The Adjara Art Museum in Batumi is a treasure trove of Georgian and world art

The Adjara Art Museum was opened on December 19, 1998. It is housed in a building constructed in 1949 by architect Kakha Javakhishvili. The building's façade is decorated with a relief frieze created by sculptor Tamara Abakelia in 1951–1952.

The interior of the museum itself is inspired by motifs of medieval Georgian architecture, which creates a special atmosphere for getting to know art.

In 2015, the museum expanded its exhibition space to include a new art gallery, which allowed for more temporary exhibitions and cultural events.

Today the museum displays over 400 works of art, divided into two main areas:

Georgian painting and sculpture

The second floor of the museum houses a collection of works by Georgian artists of the 19th and 20th centuries, including:

🎨 Elene Akhvlediani is an artist who made Georgian landscapes and architectural motifs famous.

The works of contemporary Georgian artists who continue the traditions of their predecessors are also presented here.

Foreign art

On the first floor you can see Western European paintings of the 19th–20th centuries, including works by:

The collection of foreign art is supplemented by works in the classical, salon-academic and realistic styles.

The Adjara Museum of Art not only exhibits masterpieces of painting and sculpture, but also pays attention to traditional Georgian crafts.
