The Archil Makaradze Ethnographic Museum in Oladauri village, Shuakhevimunicipality is a unique place where artifacts reflecting the culture and history of Adjara are collected.

Originally opened in 1984 as a school museum, it was later transformed into a full-fledged ethnographic center and became one of the main cultural sites of the Shuakhevi municipality.

History of the creation of the museum

🏛 1984 – the opening of the Oladauri School Museum. Its founder is Archil Makaradze, a history teacher who dedicated his life to preserving the cultural heritage of Shuakhevi.

📜 1996 – by decree of the Ministry of Culture, the museum received the official status of ethnographic and was renamed the Shuakhevi Ethnographic Museum.

🎖 Later, as a sign of respect for Archil Makaradze, the museum received his name and became known as the Oladauri Ethnographic Museum named after Archil Makaradze.
