Modern architecture in Tbilisi - the most interesting monuments

The building built during the Soviet Union is still one of the most attractive for guests of Tbilisi. It was erected in 1975. A few notable facts: The customer, Georgy Chakhava, personally created the architectural design of the building. Initially, the Ministry of Highways was based in the building. It became a bank only in 2007.

The Georgian Bank is an example of national avant-garde art. The structure consists of 3 huge 18-storey “pillars” connected between two-storey sections, under which there is a cozy park and a small river.

The world-famous building consists of 2 giant metal pipes. Despite its attractiveness to tourists, locals do not hesitate to criticize it, because of the excessive pretentiousness and contrast against the background of the whole city. The structure was built for 5 years, under the leadership of Massimiliano Fuchsas, who designed the House of Justice. The amazing thing is that in the photos and from afar, the pipes seem incredibly huge, but up close they do not inspire a sense of massiveness. There are 2 halls inside: a concert hall and an exhibition hall, but they cannot boast of a busy working schedule. They are exploited only at large-scale events. There are rumors that a museum of Georgian wine will be opened there soon, but no concrete statements have been received so far.

This building is one of the first things that may catch your eye when visiting Tbilisi, because you can see it when landing at the local airport from the porthole. The structure itself looks like a massive rectangle with a chipped corner. It is best to visit this attraction in the evening, when the outdoor lighting turns on. Unfortunately, you will not be able to go inside.
