Georgian sights in Tbilisi - Vere Park, from the past to the future.
Tbilisi's Vera Park also has its own history, or rather, the place where it is located. In the 18th century there was a garden here. The park appeared in the 20th century, but even now the Lurji monastery of the 12th century has been preserved on its territory. There are places for sports here
The sights of Georgia will always find something to surprise a seasoned traveler, because even a walk in an ordinary park can become a whole immersion in the history and culture of the country. Vera Park in Tbilisi has the title of one of the most interesting places to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The park is located at the intersection of two streets: Kostava and Nikoladze. A residential area of Vera with beautiful, neat houses has settled near the park.
The internal structure of the park will make the guests' stay in it very interesting, because there is: a sports club, including a basketball and volleyball zone, a boxing ring, a tennis court and even facilities for mountaineering and rock climbing.

The garden of the Vere Park has about 61 species of trees and shrubs, these are: spruce, zelkva, cedar, oak, etc. This variety provides visitors with a comfortable walk and fresh air.
In the middle of the Vera Garden you can find a magnificent statue of Ekvtime Takaishvili (Georgian historian, archaeologist, philanthropist) and a bust of the famous Merab Kostav (poet, musician, hero of the Georgian nation). Even a simple visit to the park confirms that there are many interesting places to see in Georgia, and most importantly – for free.
Interesting fact: the founders of mountaineering in Georgia, Alyosha, Simon and Alexandra Japaridze, were buried in the garden of Vera Park. This family made a huge contribution to the development of domestic mountaineering in the USSR and Georgia. The mountaineering club in the park is dedicated to this family and bears the name of the head of the family Alyosha Japaridze.
Lovers of a calm, measured rest will be pleased with beautiful blooming gardens, green spaces throughout the park and the murmur of a crystal clear fountain. Vera Park is included in the list of "The most beautiful places in Georgia" according to most travelers. Not far from the park there are cafes, restaurants, hotels and restrooms – everything you need for a comfortable stay.

The history of the Vere Park
In the second half of the 18th century, the territory of the modern Vera Garden belonged to the ancient noble family of Danibegashvili. Until the 20th century, there was a cemetery on this land, which has long been liquidated. In the middle of the 20th century, the park already enjoyed its popularity among the local population and was considered a prestigious place to relax outside the city, there was even an entertainment program for visitors.
The legend of Vera Park says that the famous artist Niko Pirosmani first met the touring beauty actress Margarita, they had a stormy romance, about which the song "A Million Scarlet Roses" will soon be written.
In the USSR, the park was named after Kirov. Architect N. Tsitsishvili will reconstruct the garden in 1936 and install a monument to the memory of S.M. Kirov there, K. Merabishvili became the sculptor of this project. When Georgia regained its independence, the park was again named after Vera.
The Chess Palace also has its own backstory, this two-storey palace is dedicated to Nona Gaprindashvili, a famous Soviet-Georgian chess player, five-time USSR chess champion. Architects V. Aleksi-Meskhishvili and G. Gudushauri worked on the project.
On the territory of the park there is also an ancient cultural monument – the Lurji Monastery (Blue), belonging to the architecture of the 12th century, as well as another attraction of the Vera Garden – the Church of St. John Chrysostom.
On Nikoladze Street there is an entertaining object – a residential building built in 1949 by architect A. Maminoshvili, for which he received the Stalin Prize.
