The legendary cave city of Uplistsikhe is an iconic attraction of Georgia.
From Mtskheta, which was once the capital of Georgia, we will go to the legendary cave city of Uplistsikhe, with an ancient history, wine cellars, which, like the city itself, are carved into the rock and interesting stories about people who once lived here
Mtskheta is one of the oldest cities on the territory of Georgia. It was founded several centuries before our era. It used to be the capital of the state, but today it is a small cozy city with a population of almost 8 thousand people.
During the tour we will visit such historically significant places of Mtskheta as the Jvari Temple and the former main cathedral of Georgia Svetitskhoveli. Both shrines date back to ancient times, the latter was founded in the 11th century, and Jvari has its origins since the 7th century.
After walking around Mtskheta and admiring the local sights, we will go to another historically significant place Uplistsikhe.
It is a cave city, one of the very first in Georgia. Uplistsikhe fascinates not only with its rich history, but also with the surrounding beauty. Here you will find wonderful landscapes, halls and wine cellars carved into the rock, as well as a story about the inhabitants of the city who lived in the city until the 18th century.
After visiting Uplistsikhe, we will stop for lunch at a private winery, the owner of which will hospitably feed you traditional Georgian dishes of his own cooking, treat you to wine and tea from his marani.
