
Sights of Georgia in Borjomi - a monument to the Georgian composer Zakhari Paliashvili on Rustaveli Street.
The monument was erected on Rustaveli Street in Borjomi. During his lifetime Zakharia Paliashvili was a composer, founded the national composer school of Georgia, and received his higher musical education at the Taneyev Conservatory in Moscow.
The surroundings of Borjomi are undoubtedly the most beautiful places in Georgia. In the district center of Borjomi in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region on Rustaveli Street there is a monument to Zakharia Paliashvili. He was a great composer of Georgia, who founded the national compositional school in the country. He was also a conductor, teacher, and public figure.
Zakhari Paliashvili was born in Kutaisi in 1871. His family was large, 18 children, 6 of whom became musicians. He is the founder of opera in Georgia. That time was the golden era of this art. He received his first musical education at a Catholic school, where he learned singing and mastered the organ. At the same time he also took piano lessons.
He received his higher musical education at the S. I. Taneyev Conservatory in Moscow. During his studies in the class of composition, Zakharius organized a Georgian group of students, with whom he spent evenings of music of his people. He returned home in 1903, where he founded the Philharmonic Society and began teaching. In 1919 he created the opera "Abesalom and Eteri," and in 1923 the opera "Daisi," after which he became a legendary composer.
The Georgian Hymn is composed of fragments of these great operas. Zakhari Paliashvili made Georgia famous and contributed greatly to the national culture of the country. The National Opera and Ballet Theatre is named after him. The composer died in 1933 in Tbilisi.
