International incident on the beach in Tbilisi
An incident on a hot summer day at Turtle Lake in Tbilisi. A little snake, children, rescuers and almost an international scandal…
Sometimes incredible and sometimes strange events happen in our lives. Which category to include the one we want to tell you about, decide for yourself.
One summer day, a real international scandal almost happened on Turtle Lake in Tbilisi. And it was like this.
Summer, heat. Citizens and guests of the city get out closer to the water, to the beach. So that day on the shore of Turtle Lake was quite crowded. People were sunbathing, swimming. In a word, we rested as best we could.
Two Georgian and Russian families are located not far from each other.
Let's get to know them better.
Georgian dad Archil is quite large, with an obvious beer belly. Mom is also rather big. Both are sitting on the shore. Their two teenage children are swimming.
Teenagers clearly no longer needed intrusive parental care, but mom is mom.
Therefore , it was heard from the shore every now and then:
- Don't swim too far!
- Come ashore!
- Sit in the shade, or you'll get burned!
- Don't swallow this water! Who knows, maybe there are terrible germs!
- Do not throw stones, suddenly you will hit your brother (sister)!
Then she turns to her husband:
- Archil, look after the children! I'm going to feel bad now!
The disgruntled husband grumbles:
- I've already eaten all my brains in the morning....
A little further away — Russians, obviously tourists. Everyone wants to relax on the beach. Mom, Dad and a boy of about five are here.
Mom is also on guard, guarding the nimble little boy and constantly gives commands:
- Do not go deep, or you will drown!
- Take your finger out of your nose!
A lifeguard in a uniform red T-shirt is watching the order. Since everything is still quiet and calm, he is sitting relaxed on the sunbed.
A fairly large Iranian family appears on the beach: a man, his two wives in national clothes and five children of different ages. The kids are making noise, chattering something in their own language. The whole family immediately went to the water. Wives, too, right in their clothes.
The Georgian and the Russian looked at each other and made a unanimous conclusion:
- Here are the unfortunate ones! You can't even swim normally.
- Yes, their religion is strict… No matter how they blow us up here…
Russian mom calls the child out of harm's way, saying it's time to eat.
The rescuer at this time was distracted by a phone call.
And then a small green snake appeared on the water surface, only 40 centimeters long. She approached the shore and raised her graceful head.
The Georgian mother was the first to notice her and screamed with all her might, as if she saw a real monster:
- AHHH!
- Children! Over here! Over here!
Here the Russian also connected:
- Son, where are you? Get ashore quickly! Snakes! And suddenly there are sharks here?!
The rescuer jumped up, grabbed the radio. But I haven't really understood anything yet.
The Iranian rushed to the shore, with him. They are hampered by wet clothes. One of the women stumbled and fell. Floundering scared, probably can't swim. I forgot everything from fear.
A lifeguard jumped into the water to save an Iranian woman. And she fights him off, shouts: "Haram!". That is, "forbidden". Customs and religion do not allow touching someone else's wife.
The Iranian husband saw this and rushed back into the water, all in anger and rage.
There is noise and shouting around. An international scandal was brewing!
From the other shore, shouting "Hold on!" a second rescuer rushes to the rescue on a red boat.
And the snake turned around and swam back, away from strange people…
And suddenly the Iranian baby, frightened by all that was happening, noise and screams, standing in shallow water, began to cry loudly
Not understanding what was going on, the Georgian dad rushed to help the baby, shouting:
- Don't be afraid, I'll save you!
And he pulled the child ashore, protected him from imaginary danger.
Then the second rescuer arrived. The participants of the incident are looking around, checking the situation.
The women attacked the rescuers:
- What's going on here?! You don't work at all, you've bred snakes, you know! Where is the Ministry of Emergency Situations? Where are the city authorities?
The Iranian husband is also not silent. In English, he shouts not very politely that you can't touch other people's wives without permission.
Somehow everyone calmed down, but the rest was over. We packed up our things, children, wives and went home.
That's how a small snake almost staged a real international conflict, and at the same time — a test of the ability to act. After all, people give in to panic, regardless of nationality.
And then the Georgian pope proved himself! I did not lose my head in an emergency situation and rushed to save someone else's child. Just a superhero!
