Two-day route Village Gebi - Village Gona - Kirtisho Glacier. Hiking tourism in Georgia in summer and autumn
The route Village Gebi - Village Gona - Kirtisho Glacier is designed for those who prefer the beauty of Georgian nature. Along the way, you will encounter the turbulent streams and rivers of Georgia, beautiful meadows with shepherds' huts.
The most beautiful places in Georgia are primarily its nature, which is always stunning, but to fully enjoy some routes, it's better to pay attention to the season.
For example, for the route through the villages of Gevi and Gona and the Kirtisho glacier, it's best to go in the summer or early autumn (September, October).
The journey starts in the village of Gevi and will proceed along the main road to reach the village of Gona, where you can stop for an overnight stay.
Don't worry: at the entrance to the village, there is a border police checkpoint. To cross it, you need to have a document that confirms your identity with you. Once all the official procedures are done, you can safely continue your journey. After driving another 3.5 km from the checkpoint, you will come to the confluence of two rivers: Chveskhura and Dombaurula. Not far from this place, there used to be huts for shepherds, apparently, this place is ideal for grazing livestock: meadows, open space, and there is drinking water.
We can stay overnight in such a picturesque place.
In the morning, after covering another 7.1 km, we will reach the beginning of the glacier. Note that it is better not to climb there without special equipment and professional guidance.
