In this article we will talk about the features that exist in every educational institution in the country, no matter public or private.
Start of training
Children here do not start studying strictly on September 1 every year. The beginning of the school year falls in the middle of the first autumn month. The exact date has not been determined, this day depends on weather conditions and tourist flow in the country.
A gift for first graders
In addition to exciting sensations, every first grader receives a material gift. Namely, a laptop. The initiator of such an innovation was the president of the country, and a gift is presented on his behalf.
Educational programs in Georgian and English, mathematical and logic games are preloaded into a personal laptop, thanks to which the learning process turns into an exciting adventure for every student. In addition, children are allowed to download their favorite games, cartoons, videos and quests.
Computers are connected to fast wireless Internet, which students will need during the first four years of school. In the event of a breakdown of the device, parents will have to provide access to high technology on their own.
Duration of school education
In Georgian school children are sent from the age of 6 and gnaw the granite of science for 12 years. At the same time, they go through several stages of training:
- primary from 1st to 6th grade;
- basic from 7th to 9th grade;
- secondary from 10th to 12th grade.
Class time
Thirty-five minutes are occupied by first-graders, second grades - forty, from the third year to forty-five minutes. This approach allows the younger classes to adapt to the learning process.
At the elementary school, children are served a second breakfast with national pastries and a drink at noon. At 14.30 hours, a full lunch with soup and a hot dish takes place. After lunch, a short walk around the school grounds is planned, accompanied by a teacher, then the class goes to do homework. At 16.30-17.00 hours, the child can be picked up from school.
Georgian school holidays lasting 7 days are scheduled in mid-November and March. The longest weekends for schoolchildren are more than 14 days and coincide with winter holidays.
Assessment of knowledge
The assessment of students' knowledge has been canceled, until the middle of the fifth grade. This allows you not to traumatize the psyche of children, but to treat learning with joy. No compulsion to memorize and punishments for twos.
Rating scale
An assessment system of knowledge is introduced from the 5th grade. At the same time, a ten-point system was adopted as a basis. This allows you to classify knowledge more deeply and track the achievements of students. In addition, it is more comfortable to perceive.
Learning foreign languages
In Georgia, almost all residents are fluent in three languages. English is no surprise to anyone now, because from the first year students begin to learn a foreign language. From the fifth grade, the study of the second language is introduced at the student's choice, and in the tenth – the third.
Appeal to the teacher
All schoolchildren in Georgia they turn to their teacher in a special way. An interesting appeal was formed from the name and the additive “mas". For example, "Elena mas". "Mas" is short for “mastsavlebeli", which means “teacher" in Georgian.
Attitude towards foreigners
In Georgia, they are loyal and friendly not only to foreign tourists, but also to foreign students. Every school is tolerant when dealing with foreigners. And everywhere in the cities there are educational institutions with instruction in different languages – Russian, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Arabic.
Schools for Russian speakers only
There are 11 educational institutions open in the country for basic education, where they teach exclusively in Russian. All teachers teach only in this language, so almost all students are Russian.
Tobacco sales near schools
The government has introduced a law according to which it is forbidden to set up shops with tobacco products near educational institutions. This limits the influence of harmful substances and the spread of bad habits among schoolchildren. However, smoking in public places is allowed in the rest of Georgia.
Lack of school camps
It is not customary to use the word "camp" here. Therefore, “school camps” simply do not exist here. Instead, the children go to the training camp. In winter – fees in Bakuriani, in summer – fees in Kutaisi.
The school system of education in Georgia is very unusual, but of high quality and reliable. Write in the comments what other facts about studying in Georgian schools you know. We are happy to study the opinions of our readers!
