Tsminda Sameba ("წმინდა სამება")

An absolutely stunning Orthodox cathedral in Tbilisi, Georgia, it's definitely a place you shouldn't miss. Be sure to dress modestly; veils are available for those who didn't bring their own, and covering your head is required. You can find souvenirs at the gift shop, and regular services take place here.

성당이 멋있고 주변의 궁전과 공원이 잘 꾸며져 있어서 시간을 보내기 좋았다.

The church and its gardens are stunning and definitely worth a visit. However, my experience was marred by the entrance attendant, who is reportedly the church warden.

I arrived in shorts that covered my knees, but he rudely told me they were too short and ordered me to leave. I followed the rules and used a scarf from the entrance to cover my legs, yet he still denied me entry. Meanwhile, a woman in a very short skirt was allowed in without any issue. When I pointed out this inconsistency, he became aggressive, attempted to push me out, and even threatened to punch me. He also made incorrect assumptions about my nationality and swore at me as I was leaving.

I have no issue with adhering to dress codes at religious sites—I'm respectful of them wherever I go, and I accepted the scarf here. However, rules need to be enforced fairly and with respect. It’s unacceptable to threaten and shove visitors at a sacred place, especially from someone who is supposed to be welcoming them.

To the church authorities: since this behavior stems from the warden himself, it cannot be resolved by the same individual—please address this at a higher level. This does not reflect the warm Georgian hospitality I've experienced elsewhere. My visit was on Monday, July 13th, around 5 pm.

A stunning structure right in the center of Tbilisi. The grounds are quite spacious for the location, providing a serene environment for a stroll. However, the priest inside can be a bit strict! I was reprimanded for having my hands in my pockets, which wasn’t indicated as being inappropriate, unlike the dress code guidelines.

Moving and unforgettable.

The cathedral is an incredible structure. It's surprising to learn that it was built between the mid-1990s and early 2000s, as it looks so historic. The architecture is stunning. It holds the title of the largest church in Georgia, as well as the biggest Orthodox church in the Caucasus and one of the largest in the world. Truly impressive!

Tiflis'teki bu katedral, seyahatimde en çok etkilendiğim yerlerden biriydi. Uzaklardan bile görkemli yapısıyla dikkat çekiyor. Dış mimarisi gerçekten muazzam ve Gürcistan’ın en etkileyici yapılarından biri olduğu hissini veriyor.

İçerisi ise dışarıdaki gösterişten farklı olarak sade ve zarif bir şekilde düzenlenmiş. Bu sadelik, mekâna huzurlu ve etkileyici bir atmosfer katmış. Bahçesi de oldukça bakımlı. Ayrıca, Tiflis manzarasını görmek ve güzel fotoğraflar çekmek için harika bir nokta. Gürcistan’a gelen herkesin burayı ziyaret etmesini kesinlikle öneririm.
