Shorapni Castle played an important strategic role for centuries, including the periods of the Iranian-Byzantine War and the Ottoman occupation. In the 6th century, the fortress passed from hand to hand, and in 1770, King Solomon I liberated it from the Ottomans. This place was also a significant trading hub, where the sea route ended and the land route began.
The fortress covers an area of over 6,000 square meters and is located at an altitude of 100 meters above sea level. In its ruins, two historical layers are clearly visible: late feudal and early feudal.
