  • Description

The abandoned sanatorium of the USSR Ministry of Food Industry "Medea" in Tskhaltubo (also known as the Tsentrosoyuz Sanatorium) is a unique architectural structure built between 1954 and 1962 according to the designs of architects A. Intskirveli and T. Potskishvili. This sanatorium, dating back to the era of the Khrushchev Thaw, is distinguished by an unusual composition, which includes a decorative central block with a colonnade and residential buildings shifted to the side. In the center of the formed complex there is a courtyard decorated with a colonnade, under which you can walk and take photographs.

The Medea sanatorium, despite its abandoned status, attracts tourists and lovers of unusual, historically significant places. Its architectural features and retro atmosphere make it one of the most interesting abandoned locations in Tskaltubo. This place is of interest to researchers of Soviet architectural heritage and lovers of urban tourism.

Visitors are advised to be careful, as the lower floors of the building are inhabited by homeless people and animals. There is a road leading to the property, providing convenient access by car. In the adjacent area there is a parking lot and a small stall where you can buy coffee and sweets.
