  • Description

The abandoned sanatorium of Imereti in Tskhaltubo is a significant part of the historical heritage of the city. Built between 1950 and 1961 according to the design of the architect L. Dzhanelidze, the sanatorium has a capacity of 305 beds and features a luxurious U-shaped layout, with a facade to the south and an extension on the west side. Its facade length is 100 meters.

The place attracts visitors with its preserved architecture: imposing walls, elegant stucco and vintage staircases. Despite the fire that destroyed the western part of the main building, the sanatorium is still of interest to lovers of abandoned places and researchers of urban architecture.

There is no fence or security on the territory, so access to the building is open. However, due to the destruction in the western part, moving inside can be dangerous. The sanatorium is located a little away from the main park, which makes it less noticeable to casual passers-by, but this adds to the charm for those who enjoy discovering the hidden corners of the city.

A visit to the abandoned sanatorium of Imereti will be of interest to lovers of history, architecture and photographers who want to capture the atmosphere of a once luxurious but now abandoned building.
