Metro station "Vazha-Pshavela". Saburtalo line of the Tbilisi metro

Vazha-Pshavela metro station, which is the 22nd station of the Tbilisi metro and the 6th intermediate station on the Saburtalinskaya line, was opened on April 2, 2000. It is named after the famous Georgian writer and poet of the 19th century Vazhi-Pshavela and is located almost under the statue of the poet on the avenue of the same name.

This station is unique in that it is one of the closest to the surface of the earth in the city. Initially planned as an intermediate route between Delisi and State University, the construction of the latter was frozen for a long time due to lack of funding. As a result of this, the Vazha-Pshavela station became the final station for some time, and trains circulated along one working track. The second path began to be used only after the opening of the State University station in 2017.

Vazha-Pshavela and State University stations are the only ones in the Tbilisi metro, between which you can see tunnels from the corresponding stations.

• Opening hours: Daily from 6:00 to 00:00.
• Traffic interval: During rush hour - about 2 minutes; in the evening - about 10 minutes.

Payment system:

The Tbilisi Metro offers a fare payment system through MetroMoney plastic cards, which are also used on city buses.

• MetroMoney cards are available at all metro stations at counters with MS+ symbols.
• Card cost: 2 GEL (refundable deposit).
• Trip price: 50 tetri.
• One card can be used by several passengers.
• The cards are valid on cable cars, but not on the funicular.
• Please note: MetroMoney cards are valid only in Tbilisi.
