Metro station "Gotsiridze". Akhmeteli-Varketili line of the Tbilisi metro
- Description
Gotsiridze metro station is one of two ground stations on the Akhmeteli-Varketili line of the Tbilisi metro. Located between Didube and Nadzaladevi stations, it was opened on January 11, 1966 and is the only station in Tbilisi with side platforms located on an overpass.
Initially the station was called “Elektrodepovskaya”, but in 2011 it was renamed in honor of Victor Gotsiridze, head of the Tbilisi metro. The station is connected to Tsereteli Avenue and Konstantin Stanislavsky Street by a long pedestrian bridge. After reconstruction in 2023, a canopy was built over the platform, and the old tiles were replaced with new ones.
Important features of the station are the track ramp to the electrical depot TC-1 "Nadzaladevi" in the south and the cross ramp in the north, which allows trains to turn around and move to the electrical depot from the Didube station.
