The metro station "State University" (in Georgian sounds like "Sakhelmtsipo Universiteti"), located on the Saburtalinskaya line of the Tbilisi metro, is the only metro station opened in the 21st century. The opening took place on October 16, 2017, the station serves as the 7th and final stop of the line.
Construction of the station began back in 1985 in the Saburtalo region, the main work was carried out during the Soviet era. Construction was suspended in 2000 and only resumed in 2015 thanks to funding from the Asian Development Bank. "State University" is a deep, single-vault station with an interior of siding panels and granite flooring. The only station vestibule is built into the underground passage under the intersection of Sandro Euli Street and Vazhi-Pshavely Avenue, connecting to the platform with a three-belt escalator.

- Opening hours: Daily from 6:00 to 00:00.
- Traffic interval: During rush hour - about 2 minutes; in the evening - about 10 minutes.
Payment system:
The Tbilisi Metro offers a fare payment system through MetroMoney plastic cards, which are also used on city buses.
- MetroMoney cards are available at all metro stations at counters with MS+ symbols.
- Card cost: 2 GEL (refundable deposit).
- Trip price: 50 tetri.
- One card can be used by several passengers.
- The cards are valid on cable cars, but not on the funicular.
- Please note: MetroMoney cards are valid only in Tbilisi.

The station, completed in 2017 with support from the Asian Development Bank, stands out in Tbilisi's metro system for its modern and sleek design. It's impressively clean and well-maintained, making access to the Maghlivi Tbilisi State University building much more convenient. The four separate entrances, each on a different street, add to its practicality, making it very user-friendly. It's undoubtedly one of the best and most beautiful stations in the city.

Тбилисская станция на Сабурталинской линии расположена после станции «Важа-Пшавела». Её начали строить ещё во времена СССР в 1985 году, но из-за распада Союза работы остановились в 1994 году. В 2000 году станцию законсервировали. Весной 2015 года строительство возобновилось благодаря финансированию от Азиатского банка развития и было завершено летом 2017 года. После тестирования её открыли 16 октября 2017 года как 23-ю станцию тбилисского метро. Станция находится неподалёку от улицы Сандро Эули на глубине около 47 метров. Проект разработал архитектор Г. Мозманишвили, а до 1994 года строительством занималась организация «Сактранспроект». С 2015 года строительные работы выполняла испанская компания «COBRA ASSIGNIA».

There's a lack of seating on the platform and no Wi-Fi here. The vibe resembles that of a hospital. It doesn't fit with the aesthetics of other Metro stations in Tbilisi.
