Soviet route to nowhere - cable car over Samgori, forgotten by time
- Description
The Samgori-Vazisubani cable car was opened in 1986 and became a symbol of the connection of the capital's districts, separated by heights and streets.
Its length was 820 meters, and a ride in a spacious cabin for 25 people took only 5 minutes. It served not only as a means of transport, but also as part of the panorama - the cabins hovered above the courtyards and roads.
In 2002 the movement was stopped. Since then, the stations, supports and cabins have remained abandoned. Today, this place attracts photographers and urbanists: concrete towers, rusty mechanisms and emptiness that can be heard in the wind.
How to get there: The lower station is located in the Samgori area, near residential areas and old warehouses. From there, you can see the cable car route leading up to Vazisubani. Both stations are accessible on foot, but require caution.
