Beria's abandoned dacha in the Kojori mountains - silence, pine trees and the Soviet past
- Description
Lavrentiy Beria's Dacha, tucked away in the green slopes of Kodjori village, is a complex of buildings built in the 1930s as a summer residence for the Soviet Union's party elite.
After the collapse of the USSR, the dacha was abandoned, and many of the buildings were left in ruins, dilapidated, or overgrown. But the outlines of the palaces, staircases, walls, and pavilions still bear the imprint of the power and paranoia of a bygone era.
In 2021, the property was put up for auction and sold for 2.5 million lari. Currently, the owner is the company "Iberotel", which plans to reconstruct within the restrictions - the building is being considered for inclusion in the list of cultural heritage monuments.
How to get there: from the center of the capital Sakartvelo to Kojori - about 30 minutes by car. The property is located in a pine forest, access is limited, but if you wish, you can walk along the old forest road from Kojori.
