Mural "Fisherman", by Gamez (NIKO Street Art)

On the wall we see the mural “Fisherman” by the artist Gamez, which is a modern tribute to the famous painting “Fisherman” by the Georgian primitivist artist Niko Pirosmani. At the center of the composition is a stylized character holding a fish, done in a caricature style reminiscent of characters from animated films, giving the piece a fresh and ironic feel. On the left side of the mural you can see the familiar outline of a TV tower against the backdrop of Tbilisi, symbolizing the modern context in which this interpretation of a classic lives.

The bright colors and clean lines are eye-catching, and the details - e.g. , a bucket of paint and a fisherman’s gaze directed towards the horizon - add a symbolic character to the mural. It seems that the hero is immersed in thoughts about the distant future or about something mystical, as emphasized by the image of a UFO with the caption “Guten Morgen”, which enhances the fantastic and surreal atmosphere of the work.

This mural is not only a tribute to the traditions of Georgian art, but also an original look at contemporary street art, which knows how to rethink and adapt cultural heritage for a new generation.
