Panel “Industrial Production” - mosaic from the 1960s at Expo Georgia
- Description
The Industrial Production Panel is a mosaic work of art from the 1960s, located on the facade of one of the pavilions of the Expo Georgia exhibition complex in Tbilisi. The author of the mosaic is unknown, but the pavilion itself was designed by the architect Leonid Mamaladze.
The mosaic is dedicated to the theme of industrial production and is part of a composition that also includes panels on the theme of agriculture (now partially hidden by modern buildings). These works decorated the main entrance to the exhibition, symbolizing the achievements of the national economy.
The decoration reflects the minimalist style of Soviet architecture of the time: thin, neat lines and a restrained color palette. Interestingly, according to the original idea, the mosaic was supposed to be painted, but remained in monochrome.
