Mural "My home", authors Wow Wall Studio, Mark Maksimovich, Jarosław Ptak (NIKO Street Art)
- Description
This bright mural, made in Tbilisi as part of the “My Home” project, combines the symbolism and traditions of two peoples - Belarusian and Georgian. Wow Wall Studio artists Mark Maksimovich and Yaroslav Ptak depicted on the wall a young Belarusian mother with a child who moved to Tbilisi after the birth of the baby. Her dress is decorated with patterns inspired by the traditional Belarusian "dyvan" - a hand-painted carpet often given as a holiday gift. This symbolizes the cultural heritage and family traditions that she carries with her, even after leaving her home.
The background of the mural is a vibrant collection of Georgian folk motifs, reflecting different types of art: weaving, ceramics and jewelry making. These elements represent the hospitality of Georgia, which welcomes people from other countries, including refugees. This mural is a tribute to Georgia’s gratitude for its warmth and support for Belarusians forced to leave their homes.
Every detail of the work conveys the idea of connection with the homeland, even in a new place where culture and traditions still live in people's hearts.
