Bas-relief at the Technical University station - mosaics about studies, sports and time
- Description
The bas-relief with mosaic at the Technical University metro station is an artistic design in the best traditions of monumental art of the 1970s. It was created by Georgian masters: Iden Tabidze, Radish Tordia, Apollo Kharebeva and Tamaz Tskhomelidze.
Two large-scale panels decorate the end walls of the platform and are called “Work and Study” and “Sports and Art”. Their theme is directly related to the location - the Technical University, sports and cultural facilities are located nearby.
Opened in 1979, the station retains the spirit of that time: the numbers of the year, the geometry of the composition and the symbolism of the images create a strong emotional impression. The panels tell not only about work and science, but also about man, society, dreams and moving forward.
