Mikkeller Running Club Tbilisi
- Description
Welcome to the Mikkeller Running Club family!
This is the most punk outdoor running club with 200 branches around the world. In whatever part of the world you are now, you will find a local MRC and you can easily fit into the club.
The main ideas of the club are: combining running and beer culture, maintaining a balance between them and maximum openness for participants. Don't take sports too seriously, but at the same time, don't forget about exercise.
MRC Club races take place around the world every first Saturday of the month, which culminate with a free beer at the finish line.
It all started in 2014, when Mikkel Borg Bjergse, the founder of the world-famous Mikkeller brewery, and Søren Runge decided to get in shape and at the same time continue to drink beer and eat delicious. Through Facebook, they gathered everyone for a run from the Mikkeller & Friends taproom in Copenhagen on Saturday. After that, they treated everyone who came with beer. The first race gathered 8 people, the next one was attended by 30 people, a couple of months later – 100.
Our main sign is FUCK. We show our laziness, excuses, restrictions and stereotypes that beer and sports are not compatible. We go out for runs in any weather. We drink beer and at the same time overcome halves, marathons, the most difficult trails.
So if you see a runner with a middle finger on a T-shirt at a distance, don't take it personally. The person is not trying to offend anyone, he just once said "fuck off" to his laziness and is happy on the way to the goal.
Mikkeller Running Club Tbilisi was created by people who moved to Tbilisi and brought here the best of their native Mikkeller clubs.
For comfort, we will divide into groups at different rates. To the nearest club we will make distances of 5 or 10 km to choose from.
In the future, we will also do freelance races from different bars. We leave things at the bar before the race. You can also change there.
After the finish, the bar treats each runner with a glass of beer. If you don't drink for some reason, you can just give your drink to another runner.
