The woman at the counter refused to take my 100 USD bill because she claimed it was "dirty," even though it just had slight wrinkles. When I asked her to check the note with the machine, she refused. Her behavior was biased, similar to what I've experienced elsewhere in this country. I wouldn't recommend their service.

Меня обманули в этом обменнике. Темноволосая девушка, которая проводила обмен 19 октября ночью после прилета из Москвы, выдала мне в два раза меньше денег. Поняла это только когда села в такси. Впервые в стране, в спешке не посчитала сумму сразу. Будьте осторожны, проверяйте и пересчитывайте деньги. Такси, которое предлагают в аэропорту, — это очень дорого. Заплатила ужасные деньги за поездку. В Тбилиси работает Яндекс.Такси — заказывайте через него, это намного дешевле. Пусть мой печальный опыт предостережет других туристов, впервые посещающих Грузию.

Avoid exchanging money here. Head to the departures side instead. The offices on the arrivals side are nothing but a bunch of thieves.

ATTENTION!!! A woman around 40-50 with brown hair and glasses tried to con me. She counted the money quickly in front of me, so it seemed right. But when I double-checked, 10 Lari was missing. I confronted her, and she used a machine to recount. I SAW HER HIDE 10 LARI IN HER HAND AND PUT IT BACK as she fed the money into the device, then claimed everything was correct. I'm sure many people have been fooled by this person! Please check the cameras and get rid of her. This is disgraceful! I hope you experience the same scams elsewhere!!!

The clerk at the counter took advantage of our haste and pocketed 20 GEL when we converted it back to USD. We were in a rush to catch our flight, otherwise, we would have checked our money more carefully.

While traveling from the UAE, I learned that bringing dollars was a smart move. Many advised exchanging currency at the airport, and they were spot-on. The rate was 2.4 GEL per dollar, which is a great deal, and the service was swift. You can find the exchange counter right after exiting customs, just look for the taxi drivers holding signs, and it’ll be behind them. Although there are banks in the city where you can exchange money, it’s most convenient to do it upon arrival due to timing.
