European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia
- Description
The European Union Monitoring Mission to Georgia (EUMM) in Tbilisi is an unarmed civilian observation mission deployed in September 2008 following the August war, as part of a six-point agreement brokered by the EU. The mission's goals are to ensure a non-resumption of hostilities, promote a safe and normal life for local communities on both sides of the administrative borders with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and build trust between the parties to the conflict. Around 200 observers from various EU member states carry out 24-hour patrols, especially in areas adjacent to administrative boundaries. The mission headquarters is located in Tbilisi, with field offices in Gori, Mtskheta and Zugdidi. The mandate is valid throughout the territory of Georgia, but access to territories controlled by the de facto authorities of Abkhazia and South Ossetia is limited.

It's a place that understandably isn't open to the public, serving as a duty station and headquarters. Entry is restricted to EUMM members only. It's worth getting familiar with the EU's goals and objectives. I'm nearly completely satisfied with their work, though naturally, adjustments or changes are always possible because perfection is rare in real life. Huge thanks to the EU for over 75 years of peace and prosperity in Europe. Keep honing your skills and teaching others that cooperation and trade trump conflict, as seen in Ukraine. Unity is strength, and that's what this mission embodies.
