  • Description

The Association of Georgian Hepatologists (Sahea), founded in 2000 in Tbilisi, is a key organization coordinating the activities of doctors dealing with diseases of the liver and biliary tract in Georgia and the entire Caucasus region. The main areas of the association's work are the prevention of viral hepatitis, adaptation of international guidelines to local conditions, holding educational events and seminars, as well as cooperation with international specialists.

Infectious disease physicians, gastroenterologists and other specialists from related fields actively collaborate within Sahea to provide high quality care and increase awareness of liver and biliary tract diseases. The Association focuses on eliminating viral hepatitis C in Georgia and developing the practice of liver transplantation.

Membership of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) allows Sahea to participate in global collaborations and organize major international events, such as international symposia and conferences, where leading experts share experience and innovations in the field of hepatology. The Association invites interested specialists and patients to interact to improve the prevention and treatment of liver diseases.
