Georgian Society for the Protection and Safety of Animals
- Description
The Society for the Protection and Safety of Animals (GSPSA) in Tbilisi is a non-governmental and non-profit association founded in 2006. It operates within the framework of Georgian legislation and is aimed at protecting and rescuing animals, as well as preserving biological diversity. An important part of GSPSA's activities is a shelter for homeless animals, which was created even before the official registration of the organization. The shelter became home to over a hundred animals, many of which were adopted. Since 2020, the organization has focused on taking in injured stray animals.
The organization actively implements international standards and practices in its activities. In 2012, GSPSA launched a program to sterilize stray animals with the support of the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, for the first time in Georgia. The organization is also building Richie Animal Village, reflecting its commitment to improving conditions for animals.
The main goal of GSPSA is to fight for the creation of legislation consistent with the protection of animal rights in Georgia and the ratification of international acts. The organization has established links with other international and local animal welfare organizations.
This organization is intended for those who are interested in animal protection, want to take part in volunteer activities, or are looking for opportunities to adopt an animal. GSPSA is also useful for researchers and activists interested in animal rights issues and the integration of international standards in this area.
