Quay Association-Temida
- Description
The Temida Queer Association in Tbilisi is a public organization seeking to overcome homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in Georgia by supporting the LGBTQ community. Founded in 2015 with the support of the Women's Fund of Georgia, the association initially functioned as a women's club to strengthen the feminist movement and transfeminism in the country. The organization received new leadership in 2019 and is now a platform for queer activists led by transgender people. Temida works to create a safe, equal and fair environment for queer and trans people, seeking recognition of their rights and concerns by the state and society.
The association's main activities include building a research base for advocacy, developing a democratic and solidary trans community, increasing visibility and critical awareness of social and cultural oppression, and building connections with local and international progressive groups and alliances. The organization supports community self-organization through direct support and empowerment of transgender people.
The Queer Association Temida invites everyone who seeks to support the transformation of society and the rights of LGBTQ people to seek support and take part in activities and initiatives aimed at creating a more decent and just society in Georgia and beyond.</p >
