- Description
The Doll Museum was founded in Tbilisi in 1937 under the project of the writer and educator Tinatin Tumanishvili, who donated to the state a family collection of children's toys, dolls and antiques, as well as a library.
From 1958 to 2012, the exhibits she collected were repeatedly transferred to the Palace of Pioneers and Students. The museum was supported in the XX century by well-known public and scientific figures, writers and politicians, including Sh. Dadiani, M.Toidze, S. Janashia and L. Kiacheli.
For many years, the museum has contained not only outstanding mechanical dolls of Georgia, but also foreign exhibits donated by organizations from more than 30 countries.
During the visit, special attention should be paid to the national dolls of the Dedopal theme, as well as to the unique author's samples of flamenco dancers, Asian girls, Indians and heroes of popular literary fairy tales and legends.
