Museum of Geophysical Sciences History of Georgian National Academy of Sciences

In Tbilisi, on D. Agmashenebeli Avenue, 150a, the Museum of Geophysical Sciences of the History of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, created in 1991, is located. This museum, under the auspices of the Unified Institute of Hydrometeorology of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, specializes in the history of geophysical sciences. Its collection is a unique collection of historical artifacts housed in a building that was built in 1862 and served as the Tbilisi Geophysical Observatory. Currently, synoptic maps of the 18th-19th centuries, hydrometeorological instruments, as well as scientific literature related to meteorological and seismological observations are stored here. Open daily from 11:00 to 18:00, except Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free for children under 6 years of age, employees of museums in Georgia and other countries, ICOM members with ID, people with disabilities (with a valid ID) and refugees. The museum exhibits are constantly on display, and annual educational sessions are devoted to current topics in the geophysical and geographical sciences. In addition, various scientific publications are published here, making it a center for training and knowledge in the field of geophysics and meteorology.
