    Мераб Константинович появился на свет в Гори, когда это была часть Грузинской ССР. Его отец, Константин Николаевич, служил в армии, а мама, Ксения Платоновна, принадлежала к старинному роду Гарсеванишвили. Лечхуми считалась его малой родиной. Уже с детства он владел грузинским, русским и английским языками. Позже самостоятельно освоил немецкий, французский, итальянский и испанский, мог также общаться на греческом и чешском.
