Independent Inspector Service
- Description
The Office of the Independent Inspector in Tbilisi is a body created to provide an independent and objective review of disciplinary matters affecting judges of the general courts of Georgia. This structure was formed to enhance confidence in the judiciary and ensure transparency in the disciplinary process. The main task of the service is to conduct preliminary checks and investigations into cases of possible disciplinary offenses by judges, which is carried out on the basis of an independent and objective analysis of the facts.
The Service of the Independent Inspector operates separately from the Council of Justice of Georgia, which allows it to remain neutral and independent in the exercise of its powers. The inspector has the right to request, examine and evaluate all necessary documents and materials, as well as hear from persons who can provide important information on the issues under consideration. This makes the process more comprehensive and comprehensive, allowing additional circumstances to be identified that might otherwise go unnoticed during a normal procedure.
Since 2020, the inspector has gained the ability to use electronic databases, which significantly expands the range of his research capabilities. If necessary, he may also request additional data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The results of his work, drawn up in the form of conclusions, are submitted to the High Council of Justice of Georgia, which makes the final decision on further actions in relation to the disciplinary case. Thus, the Office of the Independent Inspector plays a key role in maintaining the integrity and accountability of the Georgian judicial system.
