Ksani Gorge Historical-Architectural Museum-Reserve

The Ksani Gorge Museum-Reserve is a historical and architectural institution located at the address: st. Queen Tamar, 65, Akhalgori municipality, Akhalgori. It was founded in 1982 and has the legal status of a legal entity of public law (LEPL) since 2008, being part of the National Agency for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage of Georgia (Ministry of Protection of Culture and Monuments of Georgia). The museum is a historical reserve with a collection of 4,594 stored items. Situated in the restored palace of the Ksani Eristavis, built in the 17th century and restored in the Empire style in the 19th century, it is a significant cultural heritage site. The museum includes artifacts from the pre- and early antique periods discovered during archaeological expeditions of the Ksani Gorge. This includes weapons, necklaces, standards, numismatics, as well as glazed pottery from the 18th-19th centuries and household items from the 18th-19th centuries. Unfortunately, due to the occupation of the territory by Russia after the 2008 war, the museum is currently not functioning, and entrance to its territory is paid. Exceptions include children under 6 years of age, employees of Georgian and foreign museums, ICOM members (with presentation of a card and ID), as well as persons with disabilities and refugees, for whom admission is free upon presentation of a valid ID.
The territory is occupied by Russia after war in 2008
