Didi Liakhvi State Museum-Reserve

The Didi Liakhvi Museum-Reserve is located in the Gori municipality of the city of Gori and was founded in 2005. This historical museum has the legal status of a legal entity under public law (LEPL). Since 2008, it has been part of the unified National Agency for the Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Georgia, subordinate to the Ministry of Protection of Culture and Monuments of Georgia. The collection of the museum-reserve is located in the Didi Liakhvi gorge and includes an information center created on the basis of the occupied museum-reserve. This center searches and systematizes materials about cultural heritage in the occupied territory. In addition, on the territory of the museum you can see several medieval domed churches, basilicas, castles, as well as other historical buildings. Among the outstanding objects of the collection, the ensemble of the Nikozi Cathedral (V-XVI centuries), the Church of St. George Eredvi (10th century), the Kheiti Monastery (10th century), the Kekhvi Castle (advanced Middle Ages), the Tiri Monastery (13th century) should be highlighted. ), Beloti castle and residence (late Middle Ages), Cylindrical tower in the village of Kemerti (late Middle Ages), Church of St. Nicholas in the village of Zemo Achabeti, old family residence of Prince Machabeli in the village of Tamarasheni (10th century), New palace of Prince Machabeli in the village Kurta (X century) and much more. The museum-reserve is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. Admission is free for children under 6 years of age, employees of Georgian and foreign museums, ICOM members (ID card holders), people with disabilities (on presentation of a valid ID) and refugees.
