Mikheil Khergiani House Museum

The Mikhail Khergiani House-Museum is a special place in the Mestia municipality, dedicated to the memory of the famous Georgian mountaineer Mikhail Khergiani. It was founded in 1983 and today represents the cultural center of the region. The museum’s collection contains not only things that belonged to Khergiani himself, but also various items from the everyday life of Svaneti: from icons to agricultural tools. You will be able to see furniture, dishes, clothes, household items, as well as items related to mountaineering, and even paintings. Open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, except Monday. The ticket price is 3 GEL, but free entry is available for children under 6 years of age, employees of Georgian and foreign museums, ICOM members, people with disabilities and refugees upon presentation of an identity card. The museum grounds also host exhibitions related to the life and achievements of Mikhail Khergiani, as well as educational programs, including the Georgian School of Mountaineering.
