The house-museum of the Georgian writer Konstantin Gamsakhurdia, located in the village of Dzveli Abasha, Abashi municipality in Samegrelo - Upper Svaneti, was founded in 1987. This museum is a typical Mingrelian house in the Oda style and offers visitors a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the life and work of the renowned Georgian writer and translator.
The museum's collection includes memorabilia of the writer, photocopies of his manuscripts, numerous photographs depicting key moments of his life and work, as well as works published in various languages. Konstantin Gamsakhurdia made a significant contribution to the development of Georgian criticism, journalism, essays, poetry, translation art, historical and philosophical sciences. Among his achievements are translations into Georgian of such classic works as “The Sorrows of Young Werther” by Johann Wolfgang Goethe, “The Divine Comedy” by Dante Alighieri and poems by Walt Whitman.
The museum will be of interest not only to literary enthusiasts and researchers of the work of Konstantin Gamsakhurdia, but also to anyone interested in Georgian culture and history.
