Eki fortress in Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti, Georgia.
- Description
In the most elevated corners of Samegrelo, surrounded by picturesque landscapes, lies the Eki fortress, which is a living testimony of the early Middle Ages. This majestic fortress, located on the top of a mountain near the village of Eki in the Senaki municipality, amazes with its ancient splendor.
The entire fortress appears before the guest as a single piece of art: the mighty fence, surrounded by an artificial moat, inspires respect for the history of the Egrisi kingdom. The centerpiece is the majestic tower that dominates the surrounding area. This is a large rectangular building, where part of the history is preserved on three floors. Particularly impressive is the preservation of the south wall of the tower, created from roughly processed limestone, whose size decreases towards the top, giving the building its special character.
About ten meters from the tower a mysterious medieval atmosphere is created - a cloud of mysterious remains of a hedge, best visible on the southern part. The moat, located 20-25 meters from the fence, brings the historical scene to life again. Its current depth is 6-7 meters, and its width is 4-5 meters, but clearly shows that in the past it was even deeper and more impressive.
For those who want to feel the breath of the past and plunge into the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, a visit to the Eki fortress will be a fascinating journey into the history of Georgia. Here, every stone and every ditch is intertwined with legends and events, giving this place a special magnetism. We invite you to become part of this unique historical panorama and enjoy the grandeur of the past, personified in the Eki fortress.

Башня представляет собой крупное прямоугольное строение, от которого частично уцелели три этажа. Южная стена башни сохранилась лучше остальных.

Одна башня хорошо сохранилась. А так по мне, ничего особенного, очередная разрушенная крепость
