Shaori Reservoir - Racha's Hidden Natural Pearl
- Description
Shaori Reservoir is the largest reservoir in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions, located at an altitude of about 1100–1200 m. Its length is about 7.1 km, width is up to 2.7 km, maximum depth is about 14.5 m.
It was formed by blocking the Shaori River with a dam and is fed by a system of hydroelectric power plants. The reservoir is surrounded by forests reminiscent of alpine meadows. In the past, there were two small lakes in this place - Kharistvali and Dzrikhistvali, which were absorbed after filling the pit.
Shaori is ideal for fishing, camping, walking and photo recreation. You can sail there by boat, fish (carp, trout, silver carp, etc.), pick mushrooms and berries in the forest, admire the reflections of the forests in the water - especially beautiful in spring and autumn.
The reservoir is about 20 km from Ambrolauri, 275 km from Tbilisi. The road is asphalted and accessible to almost any vehicle.
