The Ahi Plateau - High Alpine Simplicity Among Misty Ridges
- Description
Akhi Plateau is a large karst massif at the junction of Lechkhumi, Svaneti and Samegrelo, reaching a height of about 2,300 m. The plateau is famous for its panoramic views, steep rock cliffs and picturesque alpine nature.
The route passes through the plateau with impressive views of the Abudelauri lakes, to the south - to the carved rocks. This is a popular route for experienced tourists, but at the same time it remains quite secluded and unusual for mass tourism.
Trekking to the plateau can take from 1.5 to 2 days: the first day is a quick climb with a gain of about 1,600 m, the second is a long descent to the village of Kulbaki or other natural attractions.
The Ahi Plateau is also notable for its karst caves, waterfalls and canyons. Around there are routes to the Okatse Canyon, Martvili Canyon, waterfalls and cheese factories located at the foot.
