Mutso Museum-Reserve

The Mutso Museum-Reserve is located in the Municipality of Dusheti, in the village of Mutso, and was founded in 2015. This historical museum has the legal status of a legal entity of public law (LEPL) and since 2008 has been part of the National Agency for the Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Georgia under the State Control of the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia. The collection of the museum-reserve is a unique complex that was formed during the late Middle Ages. Here visitors can discover a rustic castle from the 10th to 18th centuries, located on three rocky terraces, containing dozens of castles and battle towers, as well as an urban structure with narrow streets, small squares and stone staircases. On the upper terrace of Mutso Castle is the main shrine, which includes a church and defensive towers with basements and arches. Here you can find icons such as the icon of St. George of Broliskalo, the icon of the Archangel on Hones Hill, the angel of Vake and the traveling angel of George. Open daily, except Monday, from 10:00 to 18:00. Admission is free for children under 6 years of age, employees of Georgian and foreign museums, ICOM members, people with disabilities (upon presentation of an identity card) and refugees.
