Dzalisa Museum-Reserve
- Description
The Dzalisa Museum-Reserve, located in the Mtskheta Municipality, is a historical complex, a unique city-museum, covering the period from prehistoric times to the 8th century AD. The collection includes a temple, a palace, an apse, a pool and a public bath. The main attractions are the monumental palaces, especially one of them, covering an area of about 2,500 square meters. This is one of the largest buildings of its type in Georgia, with decoration in the form of a Roman atrium fountain. The museum also offers a look at highly artistic floor mosaics, testifying to the development of urban life in the Iberian kingdom. Similar mosaics found in the city of Dzalisa are rare for Georgia in the period from the 2nd to 6th centuries AD. The museum is open daily, except Mondays, from 10:00 to 18:00. Admission is free for certain categories of visitors, including children under 6 years of age, museum staff, ICOM members, people with disabilities and refugees with supporting documents.
Everyday, except Monday, 10.00 – 18.00
